Become an Intern

DIR is pleased to have built a solid reputation as an organization that provides valuable experience to individuals who are passionate about pursuing careers in the field of development. Our internship program is project-focused yet flexible: individuals are assigned specific tasks that reflect the needs of the communities we serve or of DIR as an organization, and also encouraged to present and develop their own ideas.

DIR Internships are full-time assignments (i.e. 40 hours per week), typically for a duration of 4 to 12 months.

Each internship experience must satisfy at least two criteria:

  • it must contribute to the professional or personal growth of the Intern, and
  • significantly contribute to achievement of one or more of DIR’s objectives.

Considering its strong focus on improving child and maternal health, DIR welcomes interns from medical faculties, development programs, and social sciences. Individuals with training in education, administration and business are valuable to DIR programs in schooling and income generation. DIR welcomes proposals from interns with other areas of expertise or interests.

To submit a CV or proposal, or request more information, please write to DIR at:  Contact.

Internships such as those offered by DIR have become recognized across the development community as important stepping stones to gain experience and secure later postings. DIR provides letters of recommendation to successful interns and is aware that past interns are now applying their skills and knowledge around the world.
